Yesterday was mum's birthday and we were too lazy to prepare another home-cooked meal. Well, I was busy with baking orders. Hence, we bundled everyone including baby Claire into the car and headed for Allegro Cafe in SS15 Subang Jaya for Italian food. The other reason was because my younger bro was doing his industrial training there as well. So, we still had a family cooked meal...if that counts. :P
Baked a mango orange mousse cake as a low-sugar naturally fruity goodness option for my mum who loves fruits and sugar but is on a low-sugar diet. We reserved a table for 7pm but we were running late as baby Claire got hungry before we left the house. I guess it was a blessing in disguise as the dinner crowd was just leaving as we arrived.
The ambience was unique and rather cosy with oil paintings on its walls, decorative lighted candles along a wooden fireplace shelf, charming table lamps and cute memorabilia pieces. Although i can't quite understand why they've put a large potted palm right in front of the cafe. Anyways, it was a rather quiet Saturday evening and we basically had the whole place to ourselves.
Calvin recommended some specials and here was what we had:
Lamb shank Wagyu beef
Sea bass
Spaghetti carbonara
Spaghetti bolognaise
Mango orange mousse cake
The happy grandparents with baby Claire
Overall, the meal was alright. I would say the place is a good option for average quality but affordable Italian food. There were 6 adults and our meal came up to RM220+. That would be less than RM40 per person on average for a meal including beverages. Would like to go back one day to try out the pizzas and desserts maybe. :P
Lastly, here's an article in The Star Metro from May 2008 - "
